3. Ensure Council’s workers compensation process is continuously improved with an emphasis on reducing
the number and severity of workplace injuries, number of claims reported and annual costs of premiums.
4. Investigate workers compensation and injury related claims to ensure improvement opportunities are
identified and implemented.
5. Build strong networks to influence key internal stakeholders and motivate employees; increase
awareness and engagement of staff to promote a safe working environment that actively investigates
risk and develops strategies to mitigate risk.
6. Develop all return to work programs for early intervention, personal injury and workers compensation
claims.
7. Lead Council’s health monitoring program for Council workers in-line with relevant legislative
requirements and approved Council procedures.
8. Review and analyse injury data to develop and report on monthly injury management statistics to the
Executive.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
1. Return to Work Accreditation. Demonstrated significant experience in return to work coordination,
occupational therapy, rehabilitation or return to work.
2. Demonstrated experience in conducting workplace investigations, develop concise reporting of
findings and implement strategies to reduce re-occurrence.
3. Demonstrated ability to use initiative and act independently to ensure excellence in customer service,
best practice and the achievement of outcomes.
4. Ability to interpret and apply workers compensation legislative standards and guidelines as
they apply to organisational claims management and rehabilitation initiatives
5. Highly developed interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to lead,
persuade, negotiate, consult with, and provide advice on workers compensation claims management and
rehabilitation issues.
6. Ability to effectively lead the coordination of workers compensation claims management processes
and early intervention strategies including the development of return to work programs.
7. Demonstrated high level organisational and time management skills to meet defined deadlines.
8. Ability to work within a team and autonomously where needed to achieve required outcomes within
specified deadlines/time frames.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
• Current Drivers Licence (Class C)
• Being able to physically meet the requirements of the role as detailed within the position
description
• Participate in Councils random drug and alcohol testing
• Participate in All staff orientation, mandatory and compliance training relevant to role
responsibilities

Implement, monitor and, or comply with Council’s WHS Management System, including but not limited to WHS
Policies, Standard Operating Procedures, Risk Assessments/Work instructions and associated systems tools in
their relevant work area.
