The Senior Manager has a key role to support in working with Government Affairs, Regulatory Response and industry bodies to proactively influence government and regulators to ensure the best possible outcomes are achieved on the development of regulatory items.

You will be engaged in all stages of regulatory development, from consultation and submission through to final legislation, regulatory publication or industry standard. As such, responsibilities include:

  • Pro-actively engage with business lines on current and future regulatory impacts, ensuring an intense customer focus across the business, with clear accountability for informing and assessing policy and legislative change
  • Represent the business when dealing with key external stakeholders on product related legislative matters to drive effective results for the business
  • Ensure that legislative changes and announcements are analysed from a process, product and systems perspective and recommend appropriate courses of action.
  • Oversight of the implementation of regulatory change across the Group and providing advice and assistance on implementing regulatory initiatives and policies

To be considered for this role you will have:

Essential

  • Excellent technical knowledge in life insurance, with a sound understanding of APRA, ASIC and the FSC and their areas of focus
  • 5-7 years experience in translating legislative and compliance obligations into business processes
  • Proven experience in defining public policy and influencing key stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes
  • Well-developed understanding of risks that can arise from implementing change to systems, operations and products
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of management

Preferred

  • A sound understanding of the governance structures that exist within the life insurance environment and the additional responsibilities that apply the life insurance business
  • Qualifications - Legal preferred but other relevant degrees will also be considered.
