This role will be responsible for supporting the leadership and drive the delivery of quality assurance systems, programs and initiatives in achieving successful business outcomes and compliance to the Food Safety and Quality Systems for all products manufactured on this site in Smithfield.

This food manufacturing facility based in Smithfield is seeking a Quality Supervisor to join the team. The role is a Monday to Friday role and works 38 hours. Flexible start hours, however it is essential that the Quality Supervisor attend daily production meetings at 8:30am.

Responsibilities include:

  • Implement the quality function to ensure that products and processes are in compliance with documented requirements, systems and specifications.
  • Support the review of non-conformances with the manufacturing team to determine root cause, create corrective actions, provide follow up and close NCRs within acceptable timeframes.
  • Implement quality at source programs to ensure all products, raw materials, processes and services meet quality standards.
  • Design, develop and update quality documentation to meet operational and regulatory requirements
  • Support internal and external quality system audits and closure of non-conformances.
  • Conduct consumer complaint investigations and reporting on findings to the manufacturing team.
  • Review HACCP plans annually so that appropriate controls/actions are in place to control/mitigate risk.
  • Drive continuous improvement efforts through leadership and development of direct reports using Lean, DMAIC, Kaizen, Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Actively drive support for quality ownership/quality at source principles with the manufacturing functions

Qualifications being sought:

  • Qualifications in Food Technology, Science, Engineering or other relevant areas.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and leading a team in the Food and beverage Industry in Australia
  • Lean - Six Sigma certification (at least yellow belt preferred).
  • Experience in a high volume manufacturing environment, preferably in the food and/or FMCG industry.
  • HACCP and Internal auditor trained & certified.
  • Hands-on approach to Manufacturing/Production based troubleshooting with demonstrated ability to resolve quality related issues.
  • Detail and quality focused with strong organisation, persuasion and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to communicate and manage all stakeholder expectations in regards to operational KPIs and projects.
  • Ability to prioritise competing deadlines and deliver in a timely manner
  • Self-starter, motivated, team focused and results driven.
  • Strong presentation and time management skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with a focus on providing value add solutions
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office.
