About the Role:

The Project Support Officer will have an exciting opportunity to work in a collaborative environment focused on delivering high quality governance, analysis, reporting, and project/program management services across the Department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Takes responsibility for the provision of support services to projects. Uses and recommends project control solutions for planning, scheduling and tracking projects. Supports program or project control boards with the recording and production of minute and summary minutes, Sets up and provides detailed guidance on project management software, procedures, processes, tools and techniques. May be involved in aspects of supporting a program by providing a cross program view on risk, change, quality, and finance or configuration management. (SFIA, Level 4 – PROF)
  • Provide guidance and direction to stakeholders on specific issues relating to the ICT Project Office’s assigned areas of responsibility to develop a shared understanding of ICT Project management objectives. Seeks to fully address Departmental client needs, enhancing the capabilities and effectiveness of client personnel, by ensuring that proposed solutions are properly understood and appropriately exploited. (SFIA, Level 5 - CNSL)
  • Ensures that program/project leads and/or service owners adhere to the agreed management approach and timetable and that they provide the appropriate information to agreed targets of timelines and accuracy. Produces reports as appropriate for project, program and portfolio governance, including making recommendations for changes . (SFIA, Level 4 – METL, Level 6 - INCA)

  1. Communicates with influence – consults and negotiates with senior management and a diverse range of stakeholders on complex and strategic issues and build effective relationships in an environment of change.

Highly desirable:

  • proven experience in a dedicated PMO role
  • Prince2®, Managing Successful Projects (MSP®), Portfolio, Program and Project Offices (P3O®), (foundation/practitioner)
  • Agile development methods and practices
