Our client, A Federal Government Department are seeking a talented Project Officer - Health Promotion and Communication for a 6 month period. Based in Strawberry Hills, this role plays a key role in supporting the Health Promotion and Communication team through the implementation of communication activities which lead and influence the national agenda and position and promote the organisation as a trusted and reputable leader. The role undertakes duties to assist the coordination and execution of key communication strategies and activities and administrative and procurement duties. The role also provides support for updating and monitoring of content on the organisation's websites and social media platforms, and media monitoring as required.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Provide key project support in the coordination and execution of communication initiatives, including announcements, releases, promotional and awareness campaigns and launches
  • Provide administrative and procurement support in compliance with government legislation
  • Compile and coordinate stories for the completion and dissemination of the e-newsletter
  • Provide media monitoring and other activities as required by the Health Communication Officer
  • Update and coordinate website and intranet content
  • Post approved content on, and monitor the social media channels

Key Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience working in a communications team where strategies are used to meet organisational, program and project outcomes and achieve strategic objectives
  • Problem solving skills, ability to anticipate problems before they arise, monitor and escalate issues and risks
  • Accountable for planning own work goals and priorities that align with and achieve team outcomes
  • Assistance with project management, coordination of meetings, procurement, and coordination of events and launches
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including government, health professionals, consumers and ability to work across internal teams.
  • Accountable for setting own work plans with capacity to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Well written and good oral communication skills with a demonstrated ability to tailor communications to suit different audiences and platforms
  • Tertiary qualifications in communications or a related discipline (desirable).
  • Demonstrated 3 year communications experience in either health, medical, science or related fields (mandatory).
  • Government experience (desirable).
