The Company

Randstad have been engaged by one of QLD’s leading civil contractors to source an experienced project manager to join the team. With more than 400 people across the business, this company has the capacity, resources, financial strength and third party accredited management systems to take on a range of projects from small civil works to complex major transport, oil and gas, water and wastewater, mining and resource sector infrastructure. They have the capability to self-perform a large portion of the work they undertake, providing clients with added control, certainty, flexibility and efficiency.

The Role

This role will be based in the Brisbane Office; however you will be required to travel to various project sites within QLD & Northern NSW. Flexibility to travel is imperative. They have multiple projects underway which vary in size and complexity, affording varied and interesting work experience to the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities as the Project Manager

  • Maintain and improve the safety culture, ensure compliance with legislation and company procedures relating to Workplace Health and Safety
  • Identify and forecast risks and opportunities for the Project works and compile and maintain the Project risk register
  • Drive commitment to quality as part of the Project Management Plan
  • Maintain effective communication with the client, subcontractors and suppliers throughout the project
  • Assist in the resolution of any technical problems encountered during the execution of contract works
  • Drive ongoing efficiency and improvements in operations
  • Establish a Project construction program, including the acquisition and commissioning of plant
  • Prepare weekly product delivery reports and submit them to the Construction Manager

What you need to be successful in this role

  • A commitment to Health and Safety objectives
  • Demonstrated Project Management experience
  • A sound understanding of the commercial and contractual aspects of projects
  • Familiarity with Australian contracting and construction management procedures
  • The ability to train, supervise and mentor engineers, operators and supervisors
  • A sound understanding of civil projects and experience delivering a range of civil projects,
  • Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering, or an associated discipline
