Tailings Dam Project Manager

  • 12 month contract role
  • Adelaide based role with some site travel
  • Immediate start

Randstad are seeking immediate applications from available and suitable candidates for the role of Tailings Dam Project Manager within a leading mining and resources organisation. This exciting opportunity is available on a 12 month initial contract basis, with plenty of scope for extension or permanency.

As a key member of the Project team, you will leverage your project management expertise to drive the development of projects relating to existing tailings storage facilities. You will deliver front end project development studies and design packages in accordance with company framework, relevant site standards and approved performance targets.

You will effectively engage with key stakeholders including internal team members. external design consultants and materials suppliers. You will actively project-manage the front end engineering studies, design packages and execution planning to ensure successful handover of several multi-disciplinary projects, while being directly accountable for managing safety, cost, schedule and quality of your projects.

In this role you will:

  • Demonstrate a commitment to safety
  • Frame project alternatives that maximize value to the business whilst meeting stakeholder expectations
  • Progress feasibility studies, cost-benefit analyses, impact assessments and project business cases to obtain the required approvals
  • Identify and assess project risks and implement mitigating controls through the lifecycle
  • Optimize value through the lifecycle of the project
  • Deliver front end engineering studies, design packages and execution planning for assigned projects
  • Plan and coordinate safety in design practices to ensure that health, safety and environment (HSE) and process safety hazards and risks are managed in accordance with relevant standards
  • Compile and maintain project documentation in compliance with company framework
  • Develop cost and schedule estimates, update cost and schedule forecasts regularly explaining any variance and manage actuals to budget
  • Ensure compliance to Australian and Site Engineering Standards
  • Act as an integrator and influencer by working across operational groups, functions, consultancies and contractors to achieve the desired business outcome
  • Collaborate with the portfolio, transition and project delivery teams to optimize the portfolio, ensure governance requirements are met and that critical elements of each project are effectively planned for execution
  • Coordinate the Management of Change process for assigned projects

The successful candidate will possess:

  • A degree in Mining, Civil, Mechanical or Geotechnical Engineering, or equivalent
  • Formal qualifications in Project Management
  • Previous experience mining, civil, geotechnical, tailings retention or minerals processing is essential
  • A detailed understanding of project engineering principles, standards & processes
  • A minimum of 5-10 years experience
  • Advanced communication skills across all levels
  • Excellent computing and presentation skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Highly technical and detailed
  • Energetic with a positive, can-do attitude

Candidates must be able to demonstrate experience in a similar role and preference will be given to those with previous mining experience. Take this opportunity to secure a rare role offered on an initial 12 month contract basis, 5/2 Adelaide based roster with some site travel required.

Due to current border restrictions, preference will be given to candidates currently living in South Australia. Interstate and International applicants may not necessarily be considered.
