Randstad is currently working with a Government Department to find a Project Manager for a 6 month contract with a likely extension past that point. This position involves working across different government departments, local communities and private organisations for the successful implementation of new ICT desktops, tablets and Print and Imaging as a Service (PIaaS).

The Role

This position will provide high level leadership, coordination and implementation of new ICT desktop and tablet Hardware and print and imaging as a service (PIaaS) across a number of geographically dispersed departmental sites to a user base of 2000+. This position may also work across other projects within the ICT-enabled Portfolio, as required.


  • Develop program and project level business case documentation and benefits management planning and documentation in consultation with stakeholders and senior executives.
  • Provide high level leadership and management in the development and implementation of ICT projects in accordance with the department’s Project Management methodology, policies and procedures, including the identification, assessment and management of risks.
  • Develop, oversee, coordinate and monitor key aspects of the project plan, including various connecting projects and ensure that the key components of the project deliver the required outcomes.
  • Manage human, financial, procurement and physical resources shared with other projects, including effective leadership to project specific teams ensuring effective governance, a culture of client services and the achievement of outputs required.
  • Ensure effective and high quality communication between the projects and with key stakeholder groups and senior executives.
  • Evaluate project impacts and change alternatives with particular emphasis on short term business benefits and project deadlines and take appropriate action where team performance deviates from agreed tolerances.

Necessary Requirements

  • Demonstrate experience in and exposure to project management activities including project management methodologies and practices, preferably applying the PRINCE2 project management methodology in a medium to large organisation.
  • Experience in deploying ICT desktop and tablet hardware, as well as managing and coordinating vendors.
  • Experience in deploying As a Service solutions.
  • Ability to gather and investigate information from a variety of sources, explore new ideas and different viewpoints. Probe information, identify any critical gaps and finds out about best practice approaches.
  • See projects through to completion, monitoring project progress and adjusting plans as required. Commit to achieving quality outcomes and ensures documentation procedures are maintained and stakeholders’ expectations are met.
  • Work collaboratively and operate as an effective leader and team member involving people, encouraging them and recognising their contribution. Consults and shares information and ensures others are kept informed of issues.
  • Take personal responsibility for meeting objectives and progressing work. Demonstrate initiative and proactively steps in and does what is required. Commits energy and drive to see that goals are achieved.
  • Approach negotiations with a strong grasp of the key issues. Understands the desired objectives and associated strengths and weaknesses. Anticipates the position of the other party, frames arguments accordingly and strives to achieve an outcome that delivers benefits for both parties.


  • Develop a rollout strategy and complete the upgrade and deployment of 2000+ out of warranty ICT desktop and tablet devices across Queensland.
  • Develop a rollout strategy in conjunction with an existing vendor, and coordinate the vendor to implement Print and Imaging As a Service to 1400 users across Queensland.
