Randstad Data are working with a large, complex organisation in Brisbane to find a Principal Data Engineer to join their team for an 8-month initial contract, with the opportunity to extend past that point. This role is working alongside the Data Architects and the Data Engineers across a variety of Data initiatives and projects.
Responsibilities:
- Thought leadership for Data Engineering and Development across the Enterprise.
- Provide technical development and support capability for ongoing enhancements, new projects and day-to-day support of systems, data, tools and technologies several of which are Business critical.
- Provide technical design and development capability in building and enhancing existing ‘Data’ solutions - The role will be heavily involved in designing, developing, enhancing and maintaining Enterprise Analytics solutions as well as in providing day-to-day BAU support (Incidents and Service Requests) for existing analytics systems and databases.
- Provide leadership in new Projects and initiatives delivering fit-for-purpose analytics and integration solutions in line with a maturing Technology Roadmap.
- Develop & enhance bespoke applications, data visualisations and dashboards involving real-time data integrations.
- Use agile approaches, to design and develop graphical displays and reports using PowerBI and other toolsets to ensure the right data is available to the right users at the right time in the right format.
- Prepare and store data for Advanced Analytics applications including Machine Learning
Necessary Skills:
- A minimum of 5 years experience working in Data Management, Data Engineering and Analytics.
- Solid hands-on experience in data analytics and insights using tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, SSRS and SSAS with a good understanding of SQL and DAX syntax.
- Experience with some, or all, of the following Microsoft Azure components – Machine Learning, Logic Apps, Data Factory, Data Lake, Synapse, Cosmos DB, Databricks, dbt and API Management
- High level Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) and SQL knowledge
- Advanced proficiency in JavaScript, Python, PHP/Apache, Web Technologies with relevant full stack framework, reporting tools, Oracle PL/SQLExperience in Data Warehouse methodologies such as Kimball, Inmon, Data Vault and Medallion.
- Understanding and experience of data warehouse design and concepts, ETL, Middleware, BI Tools and SQL Development to manage the movement of data into the Corporate Data Warehouse.
- Experience in developing solutions involving real-time data integration and data dashboards and that are flexible and adaptable to a continually changing business environment
- Experience in gathering and understanding business requirements, configuring, development and administering Integration and BI/DW solutions in a fast paced, agile environment
