Excellent opportunity has arrived to join a leading organisation as a PMO Manager in their Sydney office in a 12 month contract.

The PMO Manager is responsible for the effective set up and running of the PMO which governs the capital projects for a certain business unit. Previously large scaled programme experience will be required:

On a daily basis you will be involved in:

  1. PMO Set up

Goal: Transition to ‘business led’ approach to projects and complete the transition of the PMO to the new business unit

  • Work with EPM / MS Project Online vendor to ensure the tool becomes the single repository for project management
    • Standardise the status reports
    • Standardise the schedules (milestone level)
    • Automate the production of project / program / portfolio dashboards for reporting to sponsors, control groups, and the steering committee
  • Align the project management minimum standards to the new enterprise framework (‘pivot’) and the PPM project management methodology
  • Lead the cultural change including input to training material for project managers
  • Work with the Integration Management Office (IMO) to ensure their needs are met for reporting to ELT for the Wagering elements of the enterprise wide integration

  1. Day to Day PMO Leadership and Management
  • Ensure projects adhere to the enterprise project management methodologies, tools and governance processes
  • Manager the projects master list (single view of all projects) with a focus on capital budget management and tracking
  • Ensure project forecasts are accurate and any risks/issues are communicated / escalated
  • Manage the business priority list and pipeline
  • Support new PMs / Change Managers / Ba`s
  • Manage the PMO Sharepoint site – status reports and other content (funding process, frameworks, processes, links to tools etc)
  • Manager the key project control groups or support Program Managers in the process

To succeed in this role you will have:

  • Experience running PMOs of $100m + / 30-50 projects at one time in a regulated environment
  • Experience in setting up or transforming a large scaled PMO function
  • 10-15 years experience as a project manager or in leading PMOs
  • Strong project management & stakeholder management capabilities
  • High level of Project Management skills with a proven ability to deliver projects objectives on time and within budget
  • Outcome focused with demonstrated ability to meet business outcomes and deadlines
  • Experience with negotiation, consultation and communication within a complex project environment
  • Stakeholder management of EGM level sponsors
  • Demonstrated experience with and knowledge of Project Management discipline, principles and practice in Agile environments
  • Certification in PRINCE2 or PMBoK or equivalent methodology
  • Demonstrated ability to create documents including business cases, steering committee papers, presentations, technical and commercial content
