In a major boost for passengers in regional Queensland, Iconic bus operator Sunbus has partnered with the Queensland Government (TransLink) to introduce eight (8) permanent full time Customer Service Officers (CSOs) to support the local public transport bus networks and strengthen community ties in Cairns and Townsville.

  • Salary: $70,000 + Super (Salary Packaging options available)
  • Working Hours: 4 days on, 3 days off on a fortnightly rotating roster
  • AM Shifts: 7:00am – 4:00pm
  • PM Shifts: 1:00pm – 10:00pm

Operating urban, school and charter bus services across major regional Queensland communities, Sunbus is instrumental to keeping people connected and moving with more than 6 million people every year relying on Sunbus for travel.

The Opportunity

This exciting opportunity starts in November 2020 and four (4) CSOs will join bus networks in each region to engage and educate the community on public transport with a focus on delivering improved customer outcomes and patronage growth and preventing anti-social behaviour, including fare evasion.

You will be involved in

  • Providing high quality customer service on the Sunbus network.
  • Assisting with community engagement and education.
  • Working with local schools and community groups to educate about appropriate attitudes.
  • Promoting a positive image of public transport, Sunbus and its services.
  • You may be required to undertake enforcement activities regarding anti-social behaviour.

The boxes you'll tick

  • Strong customer service focus, with demonstrated experience in community and stakeholder engagement.
  • Use well-developed communication and interpersonal skills to communicate with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • The ability to work with minimal supervision and within a team environment.
  • Advanced conflict and dispute resolution skills.
  • Experience in a public facing role is highly desirable.
