About the role:
You are an experienced Payroll Manager who can bring expertise to the team, challenge the status quo and provide input to system, process and culture changes. Payroll sits within their Finance function – a collaborative and cohesive team that support the organisation nationally and are well-integrated globally.

  • Supervise, coach and mentor your 3 direct reports in all aspects of payroll management, compliance and administration
  • Establish a customer service culture within the team and ensure that their services exceed customer expectations, and successfully build service partnerships with internal and external customers
  • Build a culture of continuous improvement through effective development and coaching of team members
  • Identify and implement process improvements and efficiencies.
  • Manage risk and ensure compliance through appropriate controls, and build effective working relationships with the Human Resources team across locations
  • Ensure communication to the business is consistent with the national Human Resources and Finance agendas
  • Control the reconciliation of payroll, group payroll tax, third party payables via deduction, insurances and superannuation payments and authorise payroll deductions
  • Provide payroll information to management and others as required in relation to budgets, special projects and day-to-day payroll management
  • Monitor policy and legislative changes impacting payroll and ensure compliance in areas relating to payroll laws
  • Administer vehicle salary packaging and arrange worker’s compensation insurance premiums as and when required
  • Participate in other payroll related projects as required from time to time

About you:

  • Expert in payroll systems, processes and associated legislation in all Australian states
  • Experience in Mining, Resources or Energy
  • Customer-focused, with excellent client service skills
  • Critical thinker and problem solver, who challenges the status quo
  • Ability to influence and negotiate and win the confidence of peers and clients quickly
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical ability
  • Flexible, proactive and collaborative
  • Proven experience managing a team is ideal
  • Experience working in a legal or professional services environment would be preferred, but is not essential
  • Exposure to Pulse Management System or SAP successfactors application highly regarded
