job description

We are recruiting for a stable and forward looking organisation who take pride in offering their staff development routes and flexibility.

The vacancy is a payroll manager one within an organisation in the inner bayside area who are looking for someone to lead their team of 2.

You will report directly into the finance manager and will be responsible for the successful payroll of around 1000 employees on a fortnightly basis. Most paid by exception on autopay but around 20% on timesheets.

You will be responsible for paying under three separate EBAs and some awards in a highly regulated and compliance oriented environment.

Your daily tasks are, through your direct reports:

  • Ensuring all employee master data is up to date.
  • Ensuring the payrun is processed effectively, creating the ETF file and escalating it for approval.
  • Ensuring superannuation obligations are met and the correct SuperStream processes are followed.
  • Ensuring terminations, redundancies and leave is calculated correctly.
  • Handling queries/escalated queries.
  • Coaching the team.
  • End of month tasks.
  • reporting on a monthly and yearly basis.
  • Conducting leave audits.
  • Ensuring master data is up to date for single touch payroll
  • Writing standard operating procedures.

Systems are not integral to this role but experience using a large payroll system such as Chris21, ADP, Preceda, Micropay or SAP would be useful.

You will be required to carry out some Excel reporting but these formula are already built in to the XML files and into the payroll system. Training on Excel can be given.

From time to time, configurations to the payroll system will be required, you will then be required to carry out user acceptance testing (UAT).

The workplace culture is a good one, friendly and committed to accuracy. The manager is clear with their expectations, friendly and flexible.

You may see this role develop in to a further managerial role taking on additional headcount through the years or may develop into a more systems based role, depending on the individual. The organisation is very proud of the way that their staff can move between disciplines and many people within the business have taken on roles in completely different areas to where they have begun with the company.

We are looking to receive and shortlist candidates by the end of the current week, then carry out interviews over the next two.

The best way to find out if this is the right role for you is to apply below and arrange a call back with the consultant responsible.
