Location: City Of Hume, Broadmeadows, Keilor, Epping, Lalor, Coolaroo, Fawkner, Thomastown.

Reports to: Director of People & Culture

Team Size: 1

Payroll Size: 560

Payroll Systems: ADP Payforce

Payroll Frequency: 240 fortnightly, 300 monthly salaried.

T&A systems: None

EBAs/Awards: 6 EBAs and a number of awards.

Length/Salary: Initially a 12 month contract / $80,000 - $90,000 + superannuation.

You will join a business that has been given awards for innovation in the past few years and who have state of the art computer systems & services.


You will join an experienced and qualified payroll officer in the team of 2, reporting into the executive manager of HR in Australia. The company has a very flat hierarchy and the role will operate autonomously after training. However, you will sit in a friendly and polite HR team who will almost certainly bring cake in on Birthdays.


You will be a key member of the P&C team, responsible for accurate and timely payroll delivery across the ANZ region. As someone well versed in best practice payroll processing, you will support employees and managers in relation to paying staff, reporting tasks, enterprise bargaining agreements and awards. You will provide support as they implement a T&A system and as they write standard operating procedures for payroll.

Responsible for

  • Fortnightly and monthly payroll across the business.
  • Analysing pay rates and job grading across applicable EAs and Awards.
  • Providing accurate payroll information to managers and business control.
  • Ensuring that the business is compliant with legislation, including superannuation and payroll tax.
  • Liaising with managers to ensure employee records are maintained.
  • Identify process improvements.
  • Liaise with auditors during the payroll audit process.


  • Extensive payroll experience.
  • Understanding of payroll systems.
  • Experience interpreting awards and/or EBAs.
  • Ability to manage payroll systems.


  • Capability to make decisions.
  • Honest and attentive approach to payroll.
  • Excellent time management and prioritisation skills.
  • Good problem solving skills and the ability to communicate across a business at different levels.

To be successful in this role you will have strong communication skills, a customer service focused approach, you will be able to show initiative and demonstrate excellent time management skills. You will be results oriented and able to work collaboratively with the rest of the team.

This role would suit someone who has previously worked as a payroll officer, payroll executive, payroll consultant, senior payroll officer, payroll administrator, wages clerk or payroll manager.
