Our client is a growing health organisation based in Melbourne and they are currently seeking a payroll manager to help facilitate the successful delivery of payroll for their staff.

Within this role you will have direct participation in the payroll production and direct participation in the management of queries throughout the organisation.

Responsibilities

- Checking the outsourced providers work and ensuring the payfile is correct before going to the bank.

- Managing the exceptions, checking everything over a certain threshold and checking concurrent employees pay is apportioned correctly.

- Handling the queries from the organisation and managing query resolution with the outsourced provider.

- Reporting on executive pay and bonus calculations.

- Conducting LSL, AL and Personal leave audits and conducting analysis on an ad hoc basis to ensure audit controls are in place and to ensure that management is aware of their LSL, AL and PL liability.

- Completing all requests for information relating to end of employment data from legacy systems.

- Completing statement of service requests.

- Understanding health awards and EBAs.

- Ensure succession planning is put into the team and there is a backup for the payroll manager to ensure the approval of pay is not delayed in the payroll manager's absence.

- Controlling the release of pay files and running pay checking files.

- Completing calculations in relation to EBA back-pays for legacy systems.

- Communicate effectively with stakeholders and deal with payroll related queries and issues on the phone, face to face and via email.

- Complete and review redundancy calculations.

- Sign off on work-cover payments and provide payroll advice to WH&S.

- Remuneration Certificates creation.

- Overpayment reconciliations and calculation of overpayments prior to system migration, also transferring unpaid overpayments and carrying out a monthly reconciliation.

- Salary and wage re-banks and managing the daily payroll banking account.

- ABS reporting through the ABS portal.

- Carrying out third party transactions (Child support, union payments, PAYG payments, EBA related payments).

- Payroll reconciliations, clearing, salary packaging, super, child support, union payments and PAYG

- Confirming all credits within salary and wage payroll bank account.

- Lodging year end file with ATO, reconciling payment summaries and assisting with end of year annual accounts.

- Running reports from the payroll system and conducing random audits to identify discrepancies or anomalies.

- VAGO-type auditing.

- Ensuring superannuation is paid, staff are updated and loading the superannuation file to the super clearing portal.

What you can expect:

- A hands-on role where you will actively and directly participate in the production of the payroll.

- As you can see above you will have first hand and manual exposure to the payroll production and query management process.

- There will be items of work that you can delegate out to the member of staff and coach them to carry out additional tasks, however the bulk of the role will be hands-on.

- Report directly into the CFO and liaise with the head of HR on a daily basis.

- Manage change within the organisation when and if new systems are introduced.

Remuneration and Benefits:

- $120-$130k + superannuation with the ability to take salary packaging options available to health care.

- 08:30 - 17:30 hours and the potential to have an ADO.
