Operations Manager - capital projects

Top tier contractor with a strong reputation throughout Australia working on utilities projects now in the market seeking an operations manager with strong experience working on roads, gas, water & sewer projects

This is great role for someone looking for career development and progression coupled with the opportunity to manage a geographical area

This role is to manage a portfolio of Capital Projects delivering high quality solutions on time and to budget.

It will require a strong focus on safety and compliance, the role manages a team of Engineers and Delivery Co-ordinators planning and delivering Capital projects to a budget of approximately $30M across the whole Sydney Water Area

The duties for this operations manager role include:
• Developing scopes for jobs in accordance with specification
• Be proactive in identifying opportunities to tender for key projects
• Overseeing works and providing technical advice as and when required
• Developing operational management processes
• Creating a budgets in accordance with project delivery
• Commercial and stakeholder management
• Develop a client management plan
• Promoting and expanding the companies scope of works and services
• Ensuring safety on site and leading the project team of fitters and supervisors to ensure efficient project delivery

The ideal candidate will require:

  • Tertiary qualification in civil engineering or related discipline
  • Water or gas experience essential
  • Sydney water experience essential
  • Postgraduate project management studies will be held in high regard
  • Strong client management experience
  • Knowledge of building codes and safety laws
  • A minimum of 10 years management experience on civil utility projects
  • Be highly analytical with strong commercial acumen
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
