job description

Established in 2008 to reduce the high level of suicide among Australian construction workers, MATES in Construction is a charity built on the concept of MATES looking out for MATES. Its award winning evidence-based suicide and mental health awareness program engages the entire workforce in providing mentally safer and healthier workplaces.

As part of its vision of halving the number of construction workers lost to suicide over the next 10 years, MATES is currently seeking to appoint an experienced Case Manager to join the Sydney team.

The key deliverable is to provide short term case management support using a brokerage model to assess workers needs and to develop an appropriate plan to connect them with on-going support. The role will also include managing new and existing relationships with external service providers, providing on-site support through critical incident debriefing or postvention, facilitating group training programs and participating in and promoting MATES research projects.

Passionate about mental health and suicide prevention, the ideal candidate will be degree-qualified in social work or psychology and have demonstrated case management experience in a similar role within a community context. Knowledge of the construction sector is desirable, alongside sharing MATES values of “proactive & responsive, supportive & non-judgemental, committed & dependable and honest & respectful”. A flexible and mature mindset, the ability to work autonomously and multi-task and proven communication, organisational and time-management skills are also prerequisites for the role.

This is a key appointment within a truly unique organisation that exists to strengthen the construction industry by preventing suicide, because a life saved is one less family grieving, one less site closed down and one less community heartbroken.

Closing date for applications is Monday 19th October so please apply ASAP using the links below. Alternatively, contact Clare Fenwick on 02 9233 9911 for an informal chat about the role.

At Randstad, we are passionate about providing equal employment opportunities and embracing diversity to the benefit of all. We actively encourage applications from any background.
