National Purchasing Manager

Nationally recognised Company in need of an experienced National Purchasing Manager to join their team

We are looking for a National Purchasing Manager to add value to the business from the get go and add their experience and knowledge into the business.

The main objective of the role is to The National Purchasing Manager is responsible for the cost effectiveness and execution of the Centre-Led Purchasing model with a key focus on systems, processes and standardisation (e.g. material master data cleansing, vendor categorisation and supplier catalogue management).

This position reports to the Divisional Procurement Manager - Recycling, Pulp & Paper

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Lead, promote, manage and improve operational purchasing practices to ensure all goods and services are delivered at lowest total cost.
  • Effectively manage supplier relationships and key internal interfaces with Operations, Reliability engineers, Finance, Global Procurement, Logistics and Shared Service departments.
  • Manage purchasing activities including the preparation of Purchase Orders for materials and equipment and timely receipting of goods for effective P2P workflow.
  • Manage the implementation, administration, compliance and renewals of supply/service agreements.
  • Responsible for compliance to contract and transactional ordering
  • Contribute to the inventory management processes
  • Comply with corporate purchasing objectives of safe, sustainable and timely supply of quality products in accordance to corporate policies, processes, defined governance and delegations of authority.
  • Promote and ensure adherence to Corporate supply agreements and alignment to strategic suppliers
  • Working collaboratively with other Purchasing Managers on cross-functional sourcing categories, implementation of Group Procurement and Corporate initiatives, vendor reduction and process improvements to achieve best class.
  • Being accountable for the end to end purchasing activities
  • Communicating purchasing related activities to key stakeholders.
  • Ensuring Cost Avoidance – price increases elimination or deferment
  • Ensure disputes with suppliers are resolved in a timely manner and facilitate the claim settlement process.

To be considered for this role you will need to have the following capabilities;

Mandatory

  • Minimum 5 years experience in purchasing
  • Undergraduate degree with a minimum gpa 3.5, preferably with a commerce focus and external degrees such as CIPS
  • Contract and supplier management experience
  • Proven leadership experience that delivers results in overall business performanceHigh degree of customer service communication attitude
  • Multi-faceted problem solving
  • Multi-tasking and time management in an autonomous role
  • Identify structure for priority workload
  • Experience within a production/manufacturing industry

Desirable

  • Experience dealing with global and regional companies
  • Experience with relevant systems i.e. SAP
  • Multilingual capabilities
  • Purchasing in a heavy manufacturing industry

Proven results in developing sound procurement strategies and processes
