My client, a leading Orthopaedic Surgeon with a special interest in spinal disorders, requires an experienced and friendly part-time Medical Receptionist/ Administrator to join their Practice based in the City-Fringe.

The ideal candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills coupled with sound knowledge of Medical Terminology. This is an exciting permanent opportunity for a switched on and motivated Receptionist/ Administrator and you will be expected to work well and calmly under pressure while maintaining patient focus. This position is for 3 days a week and you will be expected to take on the duties of an Office All-Rounder. Candidates with Specialist Practice experience will be preferred and you will be expected to apply for a National Police Clearance if you don't currently have one.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Completed an accredited Medical Reception Training course and/or have previous experience in a medical reception/ administration position;
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills;
  • Sound knowledge of medical terminology;
  • Excellent customer service skills and able to respond sensitively to patient needs;
  • Previous experience billing Medicare and/or health funds;
  • An ability to carefully plan, organise and prioritise tasks;
  • An ability to work well under pressure and respond to fluctuating work requirements;
  • An ability to take on constructive feedback with a willingness to learn new skills and systems.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Arrange consultation times for relevant patients, confirm appointments and generate patient paperwork;
  • Manage incoming calls in a professional and friendly manner;
  • Medical Typing with a high degree of accuracy;
  • Maintaining the filing system;
  • Accurate data entry of patient details into the medical system/ database;
  • Billing of the patients and surgical billings;
  • Collate the accounts for the surgeon;
  • Payroll duties.
