management accountant in Sydney

Our client is a public sector agency based in the Sydney CBD who provides an efficient and fair service for the people of New South Wales, its vision is to be a dynamic service recognised for its excellence and leadership.

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the management accountant will be responsible for business partnering and providing high quality reporting and analysis of the financial and operational performance, effective budget formulation, forecasting and projections.

Key accountabilities

• Coordinate and prepare the agency's annual budgets, NSW Treasury returns
• Provide timely, high level support to the CFO and senior management team with budget preparation, monthly performance reporting including review, analysis and interrogation of variances, strategic project reporting and full year projections.
• Provide guidance and support or training to directors and managers on reading financial reports.
• Prepare timely, accurate management reports on diverse business activities to
• Develop consolidated reporting options to accommodate all levels of business operations including Divisional, Branch, Unit and strategic project activity ensuring compliance with presentation standards and optimal accuracy of content.
• Provide monthly and ad-hoc financial information to the NSW Treasury and other Central Government or Cluster entities as required.

About you:

• Degree qualified and CA/CPA qualified
• Previous NSW Government exposure
• Strong management accounting/financial analysis experience
• Must have SAP and PRIME experience
• Advanced Excel skills
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Intelligent, proactive and forward-thinking approach
