    Our client is looking for a Legal Counsel (Regulatory & Commercial) to join the Legal, Compliance and Risk Team, providing advice and assistance to a global services financial organisation with a strong focus on data, analytics and technology. This is a hands-on role, with significant exposure to business stakeholders across multiple business units.

    Responsibilities:

    • Support the Deputy General Counsel and Senior Legal Counsel, Regulatory & Commercial to provide responsive, efficient, practical, commercial and high quality legal advice and guidance to the Australian Business in relation to laws and regulatory requirements affecting the business, in particular privacy (including credit reporting) and data, consumer credit, and competition and consumer law, and to manage relationships with applicable industry regulators in Australia.
    • Support the Deputy General Counsel, Commercial and IP to provide responsive, efficient, practical, commercial and high quality legal advice and guidance to the Australian Business, specifically in relation to new and existing contracts, principally with customers but also suppliers.
    • On an as-needed basis, support specific programs of work in the Transformation Program within the Australian Business.

    Skills & Experience:
    • Commercial lawyer with 3 to 5 years’ experience as a lawyer in the technology industry/advising on technology projects. Must have reputable law firm experience and (preferably) prior in house experience with a major corporation.
    • Experience in the following areas: - Privacy, competition and consumer, and consumer credit law - Drafting, review and negotiation of commercial contracts, preferably technology-related; and - Contract management.
