Conducting testing of materials, hands on role, temp role with the opportunity to go perm. The role works autonomously, no career progression in forseeable future. Must be willing to do continuous and repetitive testing, work in an industrial environment and be part of production meetings which start at 8:30am. Flexible work hours, own transport necessary.

This is a hands on role within an industrial production facility. It is hot and dusty and the lab is situated in the middle of the factory. The role will spend most of the time on the factory floor, testing samples and assisting the technical manager in any ad hoc duties that are required outside of lab work. This will include cleaning areas as needed. The role requires a down to earth candidate who is happy to stay in the role as there is no career progression available. The role has the opportunity to become permanent for the candidate who displays the right attitude.

As there is a possibility of becoming a permanent member of the team, we require permanent residency of applicants. In addition, there will be little training provided and we expect the successful candidate to hit the ground running. In order to do that, you should have worked in a production facility and autonomously. Candidates without materials testing background will not be considered for the role.

Reporting to the Technical Manager, this role will be responsible for Quality Control and testing of the manufacturing lines ensuring products are manufactured within established manufacturing specifications and in accordance with relevant industry standards.

This is a NATA accredited laboratory and tests will be conducted to Australian Material Testing Laboratory (AMTL) standards.

This role will be responsible for :

AMTL Responsibilities

  • Conducting testing as per AMTL Instructions
  • Notify all AMTL personnel if there is a concern with testing equipment or testing
  • Assist the Document Controller in their duties as required
  • Assist the Calibration and Purchasing Coordinator in their duties as required
  • Maintain the Sample Register and Retained Samples
  • Filing Test Reports - both hard and soft copies
  • Participate in Internal Audits and Management Reviews
  • Regularly update and check the Issues Register
  • Conduct testing to the following Standards
    • Thermal Conductivity
    • Flammability
    • Mechanical Tests
      • Delamination
      • Shrinkage
      • Water Penetration
      • Water Absorbency
      • Tensile Strength
      • Edge Tear
      • Bursting Force

Quality Assurance

  • Raw material verification
  • Daily Quality Control checks on various lines
  • Maintenance and filing of Calibrations
  • Routine QA testing as per schedule, requests from managers and ISO9001 requirements
  • Root cause analysis of Customer Complaints
  • Participate in Internal Audits and Management Reviews

Experience being sought:

  • Experience in a laboratory setting
  • Qualification in Quality Testing
  • Experience working in a NATA laboratory (desirable)
  • Experience in a manufacturing setting (desirable
  • Experience in Thermal and Mechanical Testing (desirable)
  • Computer literate - MS Office Suite

Must be down to earth and be happy performing this role as there is no career progression. One person in lab but 60% of time will be spent on factory floor. We will not consider candidates without materials testing experience.
