Role – Junior Project Manager / Project Manager (Client Side); Infrastructure projects

Location: Sydney CBD

CONTRACT

RATE GUIDE: up to $710 + Super

Overview:

Reporting to the Project Director, this role will initially manage the construction phase of four teaching and learning facilities, and then an additional six teaching and learning facilities. This position will also require some travel across NSW.

Responsibilities:

  • Relevant tertiary and/or post graduate qualifications in Construction, Engineering, Project Management or related fields, and demonstrated equivalent, relevant professional experience, preferably gained in a large, complex and decentralised work environment.
  • Results orientated, strong self-management skills, the capacity to prioritise and successfully manage multiple projects and assignments and meet deadlines
  • High level people management skills and the capacity to lead external consultants to achieve high levels of work performance.
  • Experience in the management of complex infrastructure programs and projects, including a demonstrated track record of on time and on budget delivery performance.
  • Knowledge and experience in all aspects of planning, procuring, delivering and commissioning major infrastructure works projects in the field of Construction, Design, FFE and/or Contract Management.
  • Experience in the development and implementation of program and project management standards, policies, systems, controls and reporting arrangements.
  • Experience in the development, negotiation and management of commercial contracts for the procurement of capital works

Requirements:

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Support the Project Director in managing the delivery of projects from development approval to completion and handover;
  • Procurement of consultants, building contractors and client supplied items;
  • Management of design consultants, external project managers and building contractors;
  • Monitoring of the construction work, attending site meetings and obtaining regular reports from builders, consultants and the client;
  • Provide effective program / project monitoring and reporting to the requirements of the client;
  • Contract administration, including progress claims and payments, and the resolution of requests for information, variations, extension of time claims and other contractual administrative matters;
  • Identify risks (including legal and compliance issues), analyse their impact and implementing strategies and contingencies to manage risks associated with works project;
  • Manage reporting to track all areas of project delivery including quality, time, cost, etc ensuring compliance with OH&S, client’s objectives in the delivery of services to the client;
  • Liaise with the client ICT department to co-ordinate the procurement and installation of AV and IT equipment and infrastructure to meet the delivery program; and
  • Manage the operational readiness and handover of the completed facilities.
