Randstad is currently working in partnership with Naval Group Australia (NGA) who have been tasked to design and build 12 state-of-the-art submarines for the Royal Australian Navy.
As part of this undertaking, we are currently recruiting a Combat Systems Physical Integration Manager to live and work in Cherbourg, France, for an initial 2-year period before returning to Australia. This is to ensure a significant transfer of technology from Naval Group France to the NGA design team where there are circa 40 x Australians currently living and working in France on the Future Submarine Program.
This position is responsible to contribute to and implement CSPI plan and then monitor and control the detailed design, integration and commissioning activities.
Core accountabilities:
- Contribute to ensure the overall balances of the Combat Systems in regards to the main balances of the Submarine.
- Contribute to the definition of the implementation of the functional links (Pressure Hull Penetrator management, etc.)
- Assess detailed design/industrial options and justify the selection of the optimum solution, in terms of performances, cost, timeframe, sovereignty and risk/opportunities in accordance with the physical integration rules, especially through the delivery of System Installation Guide.
- Support the technical discussion with the Physical Integration IPT, and ensure the information are received and delivered on time and quality
- Monitor and report progress against defined technical milestones, especially by attending/chairing the technical reviews/workshops, internally or with the Customer
- Challenge in transfer of technology from French team in France
- Not going to be doing the work but reviewing it.
The suitable candidate will possess the following:
- 5+ years’ experience
- Production support in a Shipyard or Aeronautical environment
- Combat system installation experience
- Experience in assessing impact of transverse requirements
- Engineering degree
- Australian citizenship eligible to obtain Australian Defence Security Clearance (NV1) and French Defence Clearance
International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) is applicable and as such, your nationality may be a factor in determining your suitability for this role.
This role will be based in France for approximately 2 years and then in Adelaide, South Australia.
