About The Company
Our client has a groundbreaking track record on some of Australia’s largest infrastructure projects.
About the Role
This is a hands-on role, involved with implementing processes for purchasing and procurement. You will support a team of engineers with purchasing everything from stationery to heavy plant machinery.
You must have a good understanding of the construction industry and have good negotiation skills. Key areas of focus for the role includes:
- Placing orders
- Evaluating vendors, negotiating contracts and preparing reports
- Ensuring optimum levels of stock are available to meet sales, engineers and customer delivery requirements
- Negotiating contract terms and pricing.
- Tracking orders and ensuring smooth delivery.
- Receipt of goods
- Reconcile invoices against purchase orders
- Ensure all stock inventory transactions are completed in accordance with procedures
- Investigating discrepancies and completing invoice requirements
- Provide support for processing return inventory
- Assessing and monitoring the quality of products.
- Provide general administrative assistance to the team when required
The Successful Applicant will demonstrate the following skills and attributes:
- Experience in the construction industry is essential
- 2 years experience in purchasing & inventory control
- Ability to work within a high pressure multi tasking environment, meeting deadlines and have the ability to prioritize.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy and a high standard of work.
- Exceptional computer literacy skills: ERP/ WMS and strong written skills.
- Commitment to high quality work, confident, a positive attitude and prepared to do hands on work
- Great attention to detail and willingness to learn.
- Experience dealing with direct imports from several countries outside of Australia.
- An understanding of the freight forwarding process and technicalities of each country
- Needs to be across the strategy of pricing across both Freight and Suppliers
