The leader:

The Internal Review Case Officer will work in a team alongside other case officers and under the direction of a delegate to assist in completing review requests from participants.

You will be responsible for:

  • Undertake Agency facilitated training on the review process
  • Receive s.100 requests (decisions relating to reasonable and necessary supports and whether or not to conduct a plan review)
  • Apply legislation, operational guidelines and policy to individual requests
  • Apply principles of administrative law decision making in accordance with both primary and secondary sources, for example under the criteria for reasonable and necessary supports
  • Collect further information by speaking directly with participants and their representatives.
  • Communication with participants and their representatives
  • Change the priority of the request (at any time as circumstances require)
  • Undertake internal review – from contact with participant to drafting decision for delegate approval to implementation of decision by Local Area Coordinators or Regional Officers
  • Obtain expert assistance and policy directions from internal stakeholders if required
  • Exercise judgement in working with staff throughout

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • Experience working with people with disability or lived experience of disability
  • Understands excellence in making decisions under legislation
  • Experience in administrative law or administrative decision making would be highly regarded
  • Experience in claims management and/or assessment would be highly regarded
  • Specialisation or training in one or more specific disability types or health fields (for example, mental health, occupational therapy) would be highly regarded.
