Our client, a large government health agency is seeking experienced Case Review Officers of an APS 6 level to join their growing business, based in Melbourne CBD. This agency that works to support people living with disabilities is experiencing high levels of growth and needs to increase the capabilities of their review team. Successful applicants will be comfortable using policy and legislation to guide decision making in a funding recipient review space.

The Internal Review Officer will work closely with case officers to prioritise, analyse, finalise and communicate decisions, including reasons for those decisions, which are reviewable by the Administrative Appeals Tribunal and/or the courts.


The Role includes:

  • Preparing recommendations in response to unscheduled review and internal review requests
  • Applying relevant legislation and operational guidelines and the departments policy to individual requests
  • Managing high volume workloads with the ability to prioritise your daily work in response to legislative timeframes
  • Communicate effectively with participants and their representatives to explain reasons for decisions, the review and appeals process and options open to them

Succesful applicants will:

  • Have an open contemporary attitude to people with disability along with a high level understanding and knowledge of disability and its impact on individuals
  • Experience in dispute resolution or claims
  • Developed research and critical analysis skills
  • Knowledge of disability issues have outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to develop and maintain networks
  • Be flexible and adapt quickly to a changing environment
  • Have high levels of integrity and professionalism to support our values and mission.

Whilst this role is not a legal role, a legal degree or understanding of Administrative Law would be considered advantageous
