Our client is a dynamic NSW State Government agency who are looking to recruit a driven Finance Manager on a six month contract based in the heart of Parramatta.

The primary purpose of this role will be to lead a team responsible for the integrity of financial information, production of 'soft' and 'hard' close financial statements and the provision of appropriate advice to business units.

Duties

  • Deliver an efficient financial close cycle that is timely, auditable, transparent and risk based.
  • Manage the provision of all internal and external financial reporting for the cluster to ensure compliance with Treasury, internal reporting requirements and timeframes and in accordance with the Financial Reporting Code and relevant accounting standards.
  • Ensure that all assets and liabilities are recorded at their fair value and comply with Accounting Standards and the Treasury mandates.
  • Prepare complex briefing notes, reports and other material as required on issues of significance to the Chief Financial and Operating Officer, Executive and the Secretary.
  • Develop, implement, monitor and review relevant policies and procedures and initiate/manage projects to address existing/changing standards, business operations and Treasury guidelines, such as asset and liabilities recognition and valuation methodologies.
  • Implement process improvement strategies to address any identified inefficiencies and changing demands, and ensure required standards are met and processes provide high quality, reliable and auditable information.
  • Understanding the complex nature of a large decentralised cluster and its interdependencies and building financial management capability within the team and across the cluster.

  • Degree qualified and CA/CPA qualified
  • A strong technical background
  • Previous NSW Government experience
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Previous exposure managing a team
  • Must have SAP knowledge
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Intelligent, proactive and forward-thinking approach
