    About Our Client

    Randstad has partnered with an independent statutory agency whose mission is to implement a leading disability scheme to support Australians living with a disability and the families and carers around them. This agency has offices all around Australia, and for this role, the candidate would have the flexibility to work from home as well as an office based in Box Hill Melbourne.

    You will be working within the Mainstream Interface and Royal Commissions Branch who is responsible for leading and managing the agency’s strategic policy matters which include Australia’s disability strategy, the agency’s mainstream interface and other service systems, the strategy and implementation plan for younger people in residential aged care and the National agreement on Closing the Gap.

    About The Role

    As an APS6 Policy Officer you will be responsible for working within a team organise workflow, provide policy support, advise and analyse complex policy problems. This can include strategic planning, program management and development of policy which supports the overall goal of the agency. This position will not require high levels of public contact but will have a strong focus on internal and external stakeholder communication and representation on behalf of the branch.

    Duties And Responsibilities

    • Gathering and organising documents and liaising with document owner creators;
    • Analysing and preparing summaries of cases;
    • Interpreting and breaking down briefings and discussion papers to senior leaders;
    • Research and analysis, and recording findings to be included in presentations submitted to senior executives for policy development;
    • Identifying and assisting with risk management and suggesting potential solutions;

    Capabilities Of The Right Candidate

    • Adaptable to a varying workload and can collaborate effectively within the team;
    • Cultivate relationships with internal and external stakeholders;
    • Help to develop the overall team’s understanding and knowledge of the content of the Branch;
    • Have strong technical, functional or professional policy skills keeping up with current development and trends;
    • Set high standards for themselves and others to achieve excellence;
