job description

The Company:

This well established fit out company based in Sydney are presently winning jobs within the Commercial, Hospitality, Fit
out and remedial spaces. They specialise in Hospitality Fit Out and Refurbishment works up to around $4m in value - which includes restaurants, clubs and pubs.

The Role:

As a Junior Estimator/Trainee Estimator based in the Head Office, your job will be working closely with the Senior Estimator and Director covering the Tenders, Contracts Administration and RFI's. They are looking for someone with previous experience in the construction/fit out market that is very competent with Excel, and is willing to be adaptable.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Senior Estimator in the preparation of Tenders
  • Manage Tender Proposal documentation and drawings
  • Bills of Quantities
  • Reading plans & drawings
  • Prepare take off’s
  • Respond to RFI's.

Skills & experience:

  • Ideally experience as a Junior Estimator, or as a Contracts Administrator/Project Administrator that is looking to take a step up to the Junior Estimator role
  • Excellent Excel knowledge - as the client creates all Tender proposals manually on Excel rather than using specific Estimation software
  • A good understanding of the Tender and Estimation process, or with the ability to learn very quickly
  • Understanding of RFI's and ability to read drawings
  • Extremely high attention to detail and quality of works
  • Can-do attitude
  • Fluent in English, and have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Culture:

The business has a real family feel with a social aspect, so the personality fit is very important. You will need to be capable of independent working but also be a real team player. As it is a small business, you may be required to 'wear a few hats', learn from the more senior staff, and chip in with the team. Hours of work are Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm.

Benefits:

The job will initially be on an hourly rate - however for the right applicant there is an opportunity for the job to move over into a permanent role after 3-6 months, dependant on performance.

All referrals welcomed and if you are interested please apply through the advert or get in touch on tamara.dempsey@randstad.com.au or 02 9233 9940.
