We are currently seeking applications from Electrical Engineers with a background in Instrumentation and Controls for one of Australia’s leading energy infrastructure companies. This role will commence as a permanent opportunity; working from their Dry Creek Office.

The instrumentation and Electrical Engineer role is to provide technical and project management services required to support the client’s stay in business capital project plans, provide input to maintenance and long term strategic engineering standards and goals.

This role will be responsible for :

  • The development, implementation, and management of stay in business capital projects as assigned by the Principal Engineer
  • Provide technical input to the operation and maintenance teams across the different assets.
  • All electrical engineering design, development of standards, system augmentations/upgrades and asset life extensions
  • Review and development of renewable assets and future renewable opportunities.

The Instrumentation and Electrical Engineer shall ensure that the client’s capital project activities adhere to correct standards, systems, processes, and procedures. The key technical disciplines for project work shall primarily be in the instrumentation and electrical areas of:

  • Gas measurement and metering
  • Hazardous area assessment and compliance
  • Control systems, SCADA and PLCs
  • Power generation and control, SWER power distribution
  • Renewable

Project work may include other technical areas at the discretion of the Principal Engineer. The role includes conducting and reviewing technical work as well as scheduling and coordinating external consultants/resources. Tasks will be both office and site-based with frequent travel and remote facilities.

Qualification/Experience Level

  • Minimum 7 to 10 years of professional experience in high-pressure pipeline systems or refinery/process plant, power generation operations.
  • Strong knowledge of pipeline design, construction, commissioning, operations, and maintenance
  • Knowledge of gas transmission systems, gas system hydraulics, thermodynamics, chemistry, compressor station operation, and maintenance.
  • Sound knowledge in electrical and instrumentation areas of gas measurement and metering, hazardous area compliance, control system, and SCADA.
  • Strong knowledge in power generation equipment and controls, SWER systems and power distribution
  • Sound knowledge of relevant Statutory Regulations, Code, Licenses and Acts
  • Working knowledge and a sound understanding of Australian/International Standards
  • Good understanding of the working arrangements with service providers and contractors
  • Understanding of renewables (Wind, Solar)
