About the Health Products Regulation Group

Regulation that protects and enhances the health and safety of the community is a major component of a high quality health system. The Health Products Regulation Group supports timely access to products that will help achieve better health and wellbeing, whilst checking that these products do not themselves put Australians' health and safety at risk. We achieve this through regulation of therapeutic goods and certain controlled drugs and drug substances. This applies to all such goods exported, imported, supplied and manufactured in Australia.

The Opportunity

Program Design & Management –EL1 – (Ongoing, Non-ongoing, Fulltime, Part-Time)

This is an exciting role to help develop, deliver and manage the Medical Device Reform Program. This role also manages other program design and management processes by developing the implementation, monitoring and evaluation materials for program initiatives.

Medical Devices Reform Coordination Unit

The Medical Devices Reform Coordination Unit is a dynamic and high paced area that supports the Medical Device Reform Program. Services include program and project management, secretariat and related support for the program, and support for written material required for the program.

Skills Required

Duties within this position are not limited to, but may include:

  • Build and deliver program delivery capability including people, processes and technology, ensuring adequate resourcing, training, knowledge and technology usage
  • Manage the delivery of programs according to guidelines, performance standards, funding and program governance and quality frameworks
  • Prepare high-quality written reports, briefs and other documents for a range of audiences on complex reform issues
  • Develop and manage a range of collaborative working relationships with, and be responsive to the needs of, a wide range of internal stakeholder relationships and achieve positive outcomes
  • Work with project leads to build capability in project management, including planning, objective setting, timeline management and risk identification and mitigation
  • Manage a robust reporting framework to a high quality, including activity, project, legislative, and program levels.
  • Continuously improve the quality of the Medical Device Reform Program and other related program design and project level activities
  • Contribute to a positive, collaborative and diverse workplace culture in line with the APS Code of Conduct and iCare Values.

  • For these roles applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a Baseline security clearance, or hold a current security clearance of an appropriate level.
