The Assistant Director, Governance & Parliamentary, is a leadership, supervisory and operational role, and works closely with the Director to improve the effectiveness of the team. The Assistant Director, will be responsible for supporting the Commission to fulfil its purpose through effective governance, performance, internal policy and planning frameworks to support key business decisions, and operational and corporate functionality. The role will also support the Commission to execute the parliamentary function to meet the expectations of the Minister’s Office and government through accurate and timely reporting.
While the role is responsible for a series of core Governance & Parliamentary functions for the Commission, the role will also undertake other activities as directed by the executive.
Working with the Director, the role will:
- provide secretariat support to key governance forums as required
- manage delivery of the internal audit function
- coordinate strategic and business planning
- coordinate and collate the Commission’s corporate reporting, including producing the Corporate Plan, Annual Performance Statement and Annual Report
- deliver the parliamentary function, including coordinating the Estimates process, preparation for
- Question Time and performing the Cabinet Liaison Officer role
- administer the performance reporting framework
- manage the parliamentary function
- manage Audit and Risk Management Committee operations
- build proficient use of PDMS+ across the Commission
- manage staff as required and actively instil a positive team work culture
- drive continuous improvement across the Commission
- contribute more broadly to delivering outcomes for the Enabling Services Group.
Desirable Skills and Experience
Proven experience in governance, strategic and business planning, and secretariat support at Executive
enterprise level
- Knowledge of the PGPA Act 2013 and associated instruments and policies
- Familiarity with parliamentary processes
- Well-developed written and oral communication, and analytical skills
- Strong leadership, interpersonal and people management skills
You will need to have a NV1 Clearance to be eligible for this role.
