My Client is a not for profit organisation providing 20,000+ children, young people, individuals and families with a diverse range of social care services on the Central Coast and in Northern Metropolitan Sydney.

Reporting to the Manager Children’s Services, the Early Childhood Services Advisor will be responsible for providing advice and strategic direction to help create a best practice Early Learning environment across the Early Learning Centre’s (ELC), Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) and Family Day Care (FDC) programs. The Early Childhood Services Advisor may at times be asked to evaluate current programs and services, and offer advice to ensure consistency and compliance across all locations.

The role will provide high level advice to the Children’s Services Manager on the evolving legal & regulatory framework and current political & social issues in the children’s services arena.


To provide advice and support in the below areas

  1. Service evaluation, planning and enhancement
  2. Staff Recruitment
  3. Leadership Development
  4. Network with other organisations related to children’s services
  5. Provide advice to Children’s Services Manager and Coordinators on compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements

The key requirements for this role are:

To perform the job successfully, the Early Childhood Services Advisor should demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Technical knowledge – a comprehensive understanding of the legal and regulatory framework surrounding children’s services and the capacity to apply that knowledge in the context of the role.
  • Teamwork – the ability and desire to work cooperatively with others on a team. The ability to lead, influence and drive results in project teams where there is no direct reporting line to this role.
  • Oral and written Communication skills – the ability to express oneself clearly in writing and in conversations and interactions with others
  • Relationship building – the ability to develop, maintain and strengthen partnerships with others inside and/or outside the organization.
  • Client focus – commitment to supporting excellence and best practice
  • Results focus – the self-motivation, initiative and drive to complete projects in a reasonably autonomous role.


  • Degree level qualifications in Early Childhood Education or a related field
  • Demonstrated commitment to and understanding of the provision of high quality Children’s Services, including knowledge of licensing and accreditation processes and requirements
  • Previous direct service delivery experience
  • Project management skills and strong organization and time management skills  An understanding of contemporary practices in children’s services
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to understand, interpret and provide expert advice on emerging trends and issues in Children’s Services
  • Sound understanding of all relevant legislation relating to the management of Children’s Services including the Education and Care National Regulations, NSW Care and Protection Act, in addition to Industrial Relations, Occupational Health and Safety, EEO, Anti–Discrimination and Privacy legislation.
  • Current valid drivers licence and access to own vehicle
  • Identify and Respond to Children and Young People at Risk training
