job description

At the TIO we are always on the lookout for Dispute Resolution Specialists who play an integral part of our business ensuring complaint matters are handled efficiently and professionally.

If you’re a keen problem solver with a Bachelor degree and an interest in a career in dispute resolution and experience in customer service or complaints handling, we’d love to hear from you!

About us

At the TIO we provide a free and independent dispute resolution service for small business and residential customers who have unresolved complaints about their telephone or internet service in Australia.

Our vision at the TIO is to deliver an exceptional telecommunications dispute resolution service for consumers, service providers and the Australian community.

Dispute Resolution Officer

As a DRO you’ll undertake work across the end-to-end TIO complaint handling process. You’ll work with providers and consumers, to assist them in negotiating outcomes, acting as a conciliator for more difficult disputes, and investigating unresolved cases to reach a view about the most appropriate outcome.

As part of a team of dispute resolution professionals, you'll act in a professional, effective and efficient way, having regard for the law, good industry practice, TIO’s jurisdiction, policies and procedures.

The TIO provides a comprehensive training program to help develop your skills in dispute resolution.

What do we look for?

We look for professionals who enjoy interacting with the public, can comfortably interpret complex information, are able to find unique solutions to difficult issues and have a passion for providing an outstanding level of service.

On top of the above you'll hold a Bachelor degree and at least 2 years experience working in customer service and exposure to complex complaints. You'll be proficient in making decisions based on fact finding evidence and be able to prioritise and manage a large case load.

Your confidence will help you handle sometimes tough situations and manage challenging stakeholders.

Having experience in a compliance environment such as either law, claims, recoveries or settlements would be an advantage in this position.

What are the benefits

When you become a member of the TIO you’ll start on an intensive induction and a structured learning program. With offices conveniently based in Docklands close to Southern Cross station, you’ll benefit from a competitive salary, 28 days annual leave, access to onsite subsidised massage, a social club, free Employee Assistance Program services and endless nearby coffee shops!

What next

If you’re interested in becoming a member of the TIO, click on the ‘APPLY’ button and include a recent resume and cover letter detailing your suitability for the role.

We look forward to reviewing your application!

The TIO is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to providing an inclusive, accessible and safe work environment. We want to ensure all applicants and employees with disability are treated respectfully and equitably in all stages of the recruitment process.
