We have an extremely rare opportunity for an experienced Early Childhood Teacher to step up into a Director position and run a beautiful 22 place centre located in Woodridge!

This Kindy is unique in that there is a heavy focus on supporting and strengthening children’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander identity through programs that are inclusive of the children’s culture, language and learning styles.

This centre is a stand-alone kindy, catering only for ages 3.5-5 years primarily within the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community. You will be leading a small team, including a loyal Indigenous Lead Educator, casual assistants and bus driver.

You will have fantastic work-life balance, as the centre runs to school terms. You will therefore have full school-holidays off also.

This really is a dream opportunity for a Bachelor trained ECT and 2IC to step up into management.

YOUR ROLE

  • Acting as an advocate for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community
  • The day-to-day running of the small 22 place service
  • Mentoring, coaching and working with educators
  • To design, implement and evaluate programs for children, in accordance with the State-based Guidelines and Curriculum
  • Developing and maintaining open and collaborative relationships with all families
  • Encouraging and supporting parent participation within the program

Desirable Criteria:

  • Identifying or having strong ties to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community
  • Experience working with Aboriginal ommunities and minorities


Through daily observations, and applying your pedagogical knowledge and expertise you will ensure the individual needs of all children are met, and they are inspired to grow and develop into lifelong learners to achieve their very best.

Requirements

  • an Early Childhood Degree or ACECQA approved equivalent
  • a current Working with Children Check or equivalent, current driver’s licence, first aid certificate (including asthma and anaphylactic training) and resuscitation certificate.
  • a love of early childhood education
  • experience developing portfolios for each child
  • the skills to lead other educators, motivating them to excel as they deliver care and education programs
  • a proven ability to build and nurture respectful and mutually-beneficial relationships with children and their families
  • a strong understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and National Quality Standards (NQS)
