Director of Teaching and Learning

Summary:

Qualified teachers with leadership experience who are looking for the next step in their career. The right candidate will be able to gather, inspire and lead others, and have an expert understanding of 21st century learning and teaching. They will be an active Christian who understands how to integrate faith and education in relevant and authentic ways.

The Director of Teaching and Learning will:

  • Lead and oversee the development and improvement of teaching practice in the School. Collaborate with the Grade Co-ordinators to develop strategies for improvement. Research new teacher pedagogies and develop plans to communicate and assist teachers to develop their understanding and use of these strategies in their practice.
  • Modelling, coaching and promoting classroom strategies that maximise student learning through the use of research on best practice in teaching. Initiating strategies for developing a climate for providing and accepting constructive feedback and recognition of achievement.
  • Supporting teachers in the analysis of school performance data. Monitoring student and school literacy and numeracy performance to identify areas of student need and staff professional learning. Assisting teachers in the design and implementation of classroom strategies as part of their response to intervention.
  • Leadership regarding the Professional Development program for school staff. Reviewing and improving the effectiveness of the delivery of Professional Development.
  • Develop Staff Professional Development Plans that are in alignment with the goals of the Strategic Plan, Learning Frameworks and their own needs to improve their practice.
  • In collaboration with the Grade Leaders in the analysis of learning outcomes data for continued improvement of educational outcomes, the promotion of its use by teachers and co-ordinators.
  • Providing leadership to ensure the effective induction, mentoring, training and professional development of staff.
  • Overseeing the academic reporting process.
  • Regularly meeting with the Principal and Deputy Principal, communicating the School vision and policies to staff.
  • Overseeing the leadership of the established teams to facilitate the development, monitoring and implementation of the ‘Strategic Plan’ strategies.
