Our client is a global, market leading medicinal cannabis organisation- a rapidly growing space around the world. Right now there is a rare & exciting opportunity to join the largest, most recognised cannabis producer to help build their presence & be an integral part of their strategic direction on a local level.

The Director of Healthcare will build & manage the Australian medical team, closely leading and overseeing medical strategy, project execution, early access programs, publications, medical information, medical education, and medical communications for all Canopy medicines. In this role, you will be responsible for providing medical insight, guidance, strategy, medical review, and training as needed to senior management. You will oversee the development and execution of the Australian medical strategies across all products and applicable jurisdictions in a compliant fashion, and will be responsible for providing scientific, medical expertise and support for all products.

Responsibilities of Director of Healthcare

  • Plan and execute a go-to market strategy across Australia
  • Develop HCP awareness enabling patient access and medical brand development
  • Support and leverage the path for product registration in Australia and build industry presence
  • Work cross functionally with key internal stakeholders including Quality Assurance & Regulatory Affairs
  • Build & develop relationships with KOL’s
  • Oversee core medical areas- including medical marketing & sales, CMED, pharmacy programs, healthcare practitioner detailing, clinic partners, and clinical research plans
  • Responsible for event management and attendance
  • Identify and propose novel medical projects to address current gaps and opportunities and execute
  • Plan, build, manage and drive a high-performance team by fostering innovation, collaboration, customer focus, personal accountability and a commitment for results
  • Measure and report on the performance of all medical education activities and provide strategic guidance for medical market development
  • Keep a pulse on market, physician, patient & stakeholder and competitive trends to recognize opportunities for growth and manage risk
  • Role reports to the Managing Director


The successful candidate will:

  • Have 8+ years leading a medical team and strategy
  • Have ideally worked within the pharmaceutical industry- ideally within pain, oncology, neurology or palliative medicine
  • Demonstrated success in developing and executing go to market strategies
  • You will have a science related degree
  • Be highly commercial & strategic
  • Have an entrepreneurial mindset and have a hands on approach
  • Will thrive at the prospect of working in an agile & dynamic environment within a new therapy area
