job description

The Team

This position resides in the Online Engagement and Learning team whose prime responsibility is to develop, maintain, and support a range of employment IT systems, websites, and applications. Our division delivers and implements a range of IT solutions to support Australian Government services and programs.

They work in an agile development framework. We service the demand for plain-English writing for the Department’s digital channels, developed in line with the Digital Transformation Agency’s (DTA) Content Guide and Digital Service Standard. The Online Engagement and Learning team are responsible for crafting content that is consistent, accessible, and easy to understand for the end user.

The Position

As a content writer, you will be delivering written content for digital channels, often at very short notice. It’s essential you understand the Digital Service Standard and the DTA’s Content Guide.

You must be inquisitive, adaptable, and able to understand how individual online interactions coalesce to create a complex online service.

Tasks will include:

  • Writing plain-English content for digital platforms and notification messages
  • Helping departmental business areas improve the content by providing advice on readability, accessibility and writing in plain English
  • Liaising between IT teams and policy teams to produce content that is fit-for-purpose
  • Understanding complex user journeys and translating them in clear, everyday terms
  • Attending planning meetings (stands-ups, showcases) and delivering content at very short notice
  • Helping to develop content for digital and social channels including video scripts, blogs, and other online tools
  • Coordination, set-up and dispatch ad hoc notifications using online platforms
  • Working well within the Online Engagement and Learning team to deliver key goals and meet long-term strategy objectives
  • Other administrative and writing tasks as directed

Candidates are required to be Australian Citizens and be able to obtain a baseline clearance.

At Randstad, we are passionate about providing equal employment opportunities and embracing diversity to the benefit of all. We actively encourage applications from any background.
