Design Engineer

The Client

My client has developed a reputation for consistently delivering within the busy telecommunications construction sector in Melbourne. They are looking at expanding there team to make sure they uphold their strong standing reputation in the industry.

The Role

**3 - 6 Month Contract – Design Telecommunications Engineer** HFC experience is essential.

Responsible for providing project support to the Program Design Manager and the Design Team to ensure deliverables are met as per the project timelines.

Portfolio Components:

  • Demonstrated experience in the telecommunications construction industry as a project coordinator or similar
  • Proficient in the use of ERP, MS Office suite. Particularly: MS Word, Outlook (email), MS Excel. MS Access,
  • Analytical problem solving skills
  • Ability to comfortably operate in a time critical project environment.
  • Familiar with the use of corporate systems such as Project Management tool to manage program delivery.
  • Ability to interpret engineering and survey drawings.
  • Ability to interpret contractual agreements with sub-contractors and client to ensure delivery compliance.
  • Sound knowledge of telecommunication networks and their construction, including fibre and pit and pipe.

The Responsibilities

  • Work closely with key SSL, NBN and Sub-contractor’s stakeholders to develop and maintain HFC project schedules, including design schedules.
  • Understand Contract Instructions to identify and extract key data to prepare schedules.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules per project and individual.
  • Assemble and distribute work orders to relevant personnel.
  • Participate in regular planning meeting with stakeholders to track actual progress to plan.
  • Initiate and communicate commercial notices with the team using the prescribed systems and procedures in response to warranted project events.
  • Raise and communicate variations when required using the prescribed systems and procedures in response to warranted project events.
  • Work with the logistics team to confirm availability of materials during schedule development.
  • Maintain records associated with design activities in the management system.
  • Provide progress status on a regular basis or when required by the functional manager.
  • Participate in review of returned work orders from sub-contractors. .
  • Perform duties as directed by the line/Functional manager.

Qualifications/Experience Required

Bachelor of Engineering

Cert III in Telecommunications, Project Management, degree qualified in engineering or equivalent industry experience
