job description

An opportunity to join a medium sized manufacturing company in their comfortable offices in Port Melbourne has arisen. This role is for an experienced credit controller with commercial experience who wants an all round AR role with a degree of autonomy not offered in a large corporate organisation.

The company is a large manufacturer of small objects that they sell to shops and bigger objects that they sell to businesses directly. They have a debt book of 400k per month total that is split into these two revenue streams.

You will be working alongside another accounts receivable officer to ensure that the money owed to the company is:

Firstly - Billed Correctly: You will be responsible for internal liaison with different business units and different site and sales managers to ensure that they are providing enough information to correctly bill their products. This is with the view that the invoice will be paid straight away... you'll have some experience of doing this.

Secondly- Query Management: When a customer has a query once they've received an invoice, you'll be in charge of quickly identifying the query and putting the customer and the person in the business who can help solve the query together to ensure prompt payment.

Thirdly - Collecting the debt and chasing aged debt: You'll be calling customers, big and small, to check on to the reasons they have not paid their invoice on time. Ideally, these calls will lead to a reduction in the average days sales outstanding of the firm.

Fourthly - Accounts Receivable: you'll be receipting cash into the ledger, working out what old unallocated items are and accounting for any items that come into the bank account. You'll also be doing some bank reconciliations to investigate the inevitable payments without reference numbers/random amounts that are paid out.

Finally - Reconciliations: You'll have a fair bit of this to do, reconciling what the customer says they've paid with what was received, investigating disparities.
