Randstad is proud to partner with a leading engineering, asset management, infrastructure, and training services provider within the South Australian mining industry. We are searching for a control systems engineer to support our clients process control systems within a well known South Australian mine. This opportunity is offered on a permanent basis working Monday to Friday in our client's Adelaide office. As part of this role, there will be some site travel when projects move through to execution.
As part of our clients team, you will support process control systems on different parts of critical infrastructure including, air, water, fuel services, locomotive control and help monitor auxiliary systems. This role will suit someone who is working primarily on site and is looking for more time in Adelaide.
Accountability's for the role include but are not limited to:
- Investigate root cause analysis of downtime caused by control systems and develop solutions to prevent repeat events from happening.
- Ensure a commitment to health safety and environmental responsibility.
- Help standardise and improve coding in control systems including critical controls ensuring minimised safety, risk, volume or cost impacts.
- Help with preventative maintenance and routine inspections of process control equipment on site.
- Help with control system design and commissioning for plant modifications and initiate new equipment installation.
- Initiate minor control systems improvement work to achieve safer and more efficient outcomes and process efficiency's, in line with our clients business plan.
- Be adaptable within our clients technology projects team, and willing to assist operational teams where required.
Experience and background required for this position:
- Tertiary qualifications in either mechatronic, electrical or control systems engineering or trade equivalent.
- Mining control systems experience would be advantageous.
- Experience in the full project life-cycle or control systems ie; design through to execution and reliability.
- A strong background in PLC programming and hardware configuration experience.
- Demonstrated experience in SCADA/HMI programming (Rockwell automation production experience would be advantageous)
- Demonstrated experience in field communication protocols ie; EthernetIP, Modbus, Device net & Profibus.
- Competence in industrial control system design, development, deployment and technical support.
