Our client, the world’s leading provider of financial solutions for individuals and small businesses are seeking an enthusiastic, entrepreneurial, digitally savvy and talented communications all-rounder to join the team on an 8-month contract. This exciting role is primarily responsible for driving the organisations brand awareness in market as well as providing communications support for internal/external corporate and marketing campaigns, as directed by the senior communications manager.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Support and/or drive key corporate, employee relations, brand and marketing initiatives, spanning: content creation, with a focus on writing; key message creation and executive profiling
  • Research and create newsworthy editorial (incl news releases, bylines, op eds) each month with the goal of helping to build share of voice in mainstream and trade press. The editorial needs to be completed according to the company’s style and data focus and, where possible, it needs to support key marketing initiatives. (The editorial is pitched to media by the communications agency).
  • Assist with the social amplification of earned media initiatives.
  • Work with local and global peers/leaders across the business and a variety of other key stakeholders including customers, industry influencers, media and the communications agency to inform and progress activities.
  • Follow up agreed metrics and create the required reports to showcase the effectiveness of the communications strategy.


  • Approximate time split: around 30%-40% on content creation and 60%-70% supporting key business/corporate, employee relations, brand and marketing initiatives
  • This role works with and reports to the senior communications manager.

Desired skills and experience

  • A degree qualified communications specialist with A class writing skills (a writing test will be held for the shortlisted candidates)
  • Solid understanding of the media and what is newsworthy, together with strong understanding of the role of company strategy, positioning and messaging
  • Demonstrable experience in identifying, researching and creating newsworthy topics and preparing editorial on those
  • Experience in internal/external/brand communications, as well as working across matrix organisations and working with leaders
  • Strong collaborative and cross-functional working skills, including the ability to move fast
  • Demonstrable track record in working on a broad range of communications campaigns
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • 6-8 years of experience in corporate communications/Public Relations or journalism


  • Experience in the IT or software industry or an industry that uses high tech or is data driven
  • Experience working in communications in Australia
