Are you a Qualified Coach Builder? This is your opportunity to play your part in keeping Brisbane running. Assist in maintaining, upgrading and repairing a fleet of over 1200 buses.

About Your New Role

This is your opportunity to work with the Bus Repairs team and be responsible for the maintenance, improvement and repair of both the internal and external components on Brisbane City Council’s fleet vehicles. You will be expected to work across all aspects of repairs, manufacturing & maintenance of the coaches, including but not limited to:

  • Repairing minor panel damage (front & side hatches, front bumper)
  • Replacement of heavily damaged metal & fibreglass panels (both internal & external)
  • Door & Passenger Seat replacement – removal & installation of new seats and doors
  • Floorboard replacement – removal & fitting thermalite floorboards
  • Chassis and Body Repairs – may include manipulating & rebuilding framework as required
  • Spraying under body protection and body deadener
  • Supervise and train trade assistants and apprentices
  • Complete Job Related administrative tasks

There is also the opportunity to work across a major project at any of the depots, updgrading the entire fleet.

What you will need to exceed

You will need to have pride in your work and a passion for completing your work to high standards, as well as a commitment to safety so that you can ensure all operations are conducted to guidelines.

You will also require:

  • Australian Certificate 3 in Automotive Manufacturing (Bus, Truck & Trailer) (essential)
  • Experience in bus/coach industry (essential)
  • HR/MR License (beneficial)

About the Council

Transport for Brisbane is a major public service provider within South East Queensland, responsible for providing an operational bus network 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. To assist with a smooth service, their fleet contains over 1200 buses from 7 depots across the Brisbane Region.
