We are seeking enthusiastic, motivated and suitably qualified Registered Midwives Level 2 with an interest in providing clinical education leadership to support staff to grow and develop in their midwifery and nursing careers, and who are passionate about clinical education and leadership.
In this role, you will help staff advance their skills in midwifery and nursing careers.
As a Clinical Development Midwife (CDM), you will offer educational and clinical support across antenatal, intrapartum, postnatal care, and continuity of care models. You will also assist newly graduated midwives through an intensive transition to practice program.
In addition, CDMs lead department-wide in-service and education activities. You will receive support from the Clinical Support Midwife, Clinical Midwifery Managers, and Clinical Support Manager, enabling you to work across all areas of Maternity within your full scope of practice.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Facilitate Clinical Teaching: Deliver workplace-based clinical education, applying adult learning principles and evidence-based practices in line with clinical standards and guidelines.
- Collaborate on Education Development: Work with Clinical Midwifery Managers and Clinical Support Midwife to identify and create educational programs that address the needs of maternity staff.
- Conduct Competency Assessments: Perform assessments for midwives according to National Competency Standards and Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council requirements.
- Support Orientation Programs: Assist in developing and delivering orientation programs for graduate midwives and new staff, in collaboration with Clinical Midwifery Managers and Clinical Support Midwife.
- Commit to Professional Development: Stay current with mandatory education and skill development, lead and support continuing education, and collaborate on monitoring and reporting midwifery staff performance.
- Engage in Policy and Quality Improvement: Contribute to the creation and review of policies, procedures, and quality initiatives to foster excellence in midwifery care.
- Advocate for Midwifery Expertise: Highlight the role of midwives within the multidisciplinary team, promoting their contributions to positive outcomes and supporting both individual and team growth.
- Perform Additional Duties: Undertake other relevant tasks that support the organization’s operations at this level of classification.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Nursing
- AHPRA Registration
- National Police Check
- Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 Registration
- Comply with Vaccination Policy
- Required: Minimum 4 years experience
- Desirable: Post graduate qualifications in relevant field e.g., Midwifery, Child, and Family Health and/or Clinical Leadership
