job description

This position will be responsible for maintaing and upkeeping of council insurance portfolios, undertaking renewals, maintaing asset and liability schedules, and managing insurance claims. Making a positive impact on the workplace environment by creating reports as a return to work coordinator.

Create a difference in the Illawarra as an insurance claims officer. Assist the local government to establish a positive impact in the workplace through investigation into insurance,liability and workers compensation.

Report your findings and discuss potential improvements to the Coordinator Workplace Systems to reduce the occurrence of workplace claims and improve the personnel safety.

Your duties will include but not limited to:

  • Manage and investigate insurance & liability claims
  • Direct the renewal of councils insurance inline with time frames & procedures
  • Create,store,retrieve and archive files to ensure the safe storage of claims management information
  • Maintain insurance claims data base
  • Provide reports on insurance claim matters
  • Implement new strategies for improvement

What we are looking for:

  • Current return to work coordinator certificate & experience essential
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations & council policy & procedures
  • High level proficiency with computerised systems i.e (Microsoft office suite)
  • Attention to detail & ability to complete tasks by deadline
  • Strong conflict resolution skills
  • Commitment to WHS
  • Excellent communication skills
