Randstad is seeking an experienced Citrix Administrator to administer, monitor and maintain an internal system within a 24/7 critical environment. The successful incumbent is required to evaluate, install and acquire all system software, hardware, management tools and devices to ensure smooth and seamless system performance.

Key accountabilities:

  • Continuously assess and evaluate the Windows and Citrix systems and associated technology for effective and efficient performance measured against performance indicators and benchmarks; Assist in the management of backup and business continuity strategies; Provide effective and timely system support to all users as required.
  • Report any software, hardware or security issues identified on a daily basis; Provide advice in relation to Windows, VMWare and Citrix operational procedures and work practices; Liaise and develop supportive work practices with all sections of the organisation; Interact and communicate with individuals and groups representing a wide variety of units and organisations.
  • Provide on-call services for the provision of system support in the event of system malfunctions of a significant operational impact and total system failure necessitating the activation of manual operation practices.
  • Monitor and maintain all applicable Microsoft, Citrix, VMWare and internal system concepts and structures; Maintain issue management documentation reflecting accurately the status of all systems including related hardware and software registers; Maintain an up to date knowledge of all products both current and proposed; Provide documentation reflecting accurately the status of all network related procedures and systems.
  • Interface with system support personnel regarding resolution of issues associated with server or supporting technical hardware, the operating system, software products and other relevant systems in operation.
  • Maintain all hardware and software products with regard to installation, maintenance, removal and upgrade; Advise and assist system users in the application and use of third party software products; Manage the networked systems.
  • Ensure that all data is secure from both internal and external interference whilst ensuring the user access is not compromised and conversely ensure that adequate user access is provided without compromising security.

Essential requirements:

  • Relevant tertiary and/or professional qualifications and extensive experience in Windows and Citrix environments within large public/private organisations.
  • Demonstrated experience in the use and support of MS Windows OS and Citrix systems, fault tolerant server technology, virtualisation, incident Management systems and MS SQL server.
  • Experience in a system administrator role in a critical 24x7 availability environment.
  • Demonstrated communication skills, both written and oral. Ability to understand application system requirements, considerations and limitations in a live critical environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as a team member in a diverse, geographically dispersed and complex organisation.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with a proven ability to identify, analyse and address issues and develop and apply solutions in time critical situations including excellent stakeholder management skills with proven ability to liaise with and foster effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and to facilitate effective service delivery outcomes.
  • Demonstrated excellent decision making and judgemental skills, negotiations and time management skills.
