job description

Our client, a NSW Government Department require a standout Communications Partner to work on a major project for a minimum 6 month period. This primary purpose of this demanding but very rewarding role is to establish and develop business partnerships with a nominated directorate(s) in order to create an environment that delivers agreed communications strategies, processes and tools that support the business and its communications objectives.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Provide business input and contribution to the development and coordination of internal and external communications strategic frameworks and initiatives through translation of the ongoing business needs of the Directorate
  • Contribute to the success of the nominated portfolio(s) through the coordination of accessible, timely and trusted channels of communication
  • Provide high level, expert advice to the business, whilst undertaking a full range of strategic communications activities in support of ongoing business requirements
  • Lead and manage team/s as required.
  • Manage budgets as required.
  • Drive the implementation of activities and projects ensuring they are embedded within the business areas and broker services and liaise with Communications operational support teams to ensure prompt finalisation
  • Prepare engaging, strategically aligned content for internal and external channels – including presentations, social and digital media, stories, ministerial and government correspondence ,briefs, newsletters and forums
  • Develop and maintain networks to enhance the image of the directorate and identify opportunities to increase staff commitment and engagement across the Portfolio
  • Develop and drive communications plans and strategies as required
  • Execute safety responsibilities, authorities and accountabilities
  • Ensure up to date knowledge and understanding of Incident Management System and be available to respond to critical incidents when required.

Essential requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Communications or related field or equivalent experience and/or demonstrated experience in providing strategic internal communications advice in a large complex organisation
  • Demonstrated significant experience in guiding and managing teams to deliver high quality and timely work
  • Knowledge and understanding of traditional and digital channels, creative design processes and campaign development and delivery.
