About the company

My client is a leading and Australian bank headquartered in Sydney. The bank’s has a portfolio of financial services brands and businesses and provide a broad range of banking and financial services in Australian market. They have strong customer facing divisions around consumer, banking and institution banking

About the role

Because of their immense growth in their portfolio, an exciting opportunity has come up in one of their offices in Sydney. They are urgently looking for two data governance business analysts to work to provide critical support to Data domain owners in governance activities and ensuring the data quality. High quality information is critical to their business strategy

Skill Sets

You need to have the following skill sets to excel in this role:

  • Strong understanding of technical business analysis skills including documentation, analysis, development, testing and stakeholder management.
  • Advanced working knowledge and understanding of SQL, data lifecycle, data warehouses, data architecture and metadata management tools.
  • Advanced understanding of profiling data, investigative and root cause analysis to identify gaps and implement and build controls.
  • Experience in source to target mapping and data lineage
  • Experience in Data quality and control
  • Preferred: experience in data, banking transformation programs, audit, risk and or compliance.

Day to day jobs:

  • Support Domain Owners (Customer and Product & Account) to meet responsibilities and accountabilities under the Data Management Framework.
  • Capture and validate technical metadata to understand business rules, controls, thresholds related to Business Value Chains using Critical Data Elements.
  • Document business data flows (data lineage) and validate upstream and downstream use cases.
  • Assess existing Data Quality dimensions, controls and thresholds to identify gaps. Recommend and build new data quality dimensions, controls and thresholds that are ‘fit for purpose’.
  • Conduct data profiling, transforming business rules into data queries, investigating data exceptions, performing root cause analysis and providing inputs for implementing data controls.
  • Conduct UAT on the new Data Quality dimension, controls and thresholds.
  • Leverage and use groups initiatives to apply governance and utilise group metadata management tools.

It is an urgent position and my client is interviewing candidates at the moment. It is an exceptional opportunity for someone who has strong Data Quality and governance experience and has worked in banking and financial services sector.
