This National Engineering Consulting firm has an excellent reputation in the Australian market having delivered innovative, efficient and sustainable engineering solutions for over two decades across a wide range of project sectors.

Nationally, they have over 100 staff working in close partnerships with clients in delivering engineering design solutions across different sectors with a strong capability in Building Services covering Mechanical, Electrical, Hydraulics, Fire Protection, ESD and all specialist services.

your new role

Having established a Melbourne office over the last few years, they are now seeking a Group Manager with a background in Mechanical Engineering to lead their team in Melbourne and further strengthen their capability in Victoria.

Given your background in mechanical engineering, you will also be hands-on in managing the mechanical team and be involved in the design delivery of multidisciplinary projects. You will also take ownership, with support from other discipline leads, in creating long lasting relationships with new and existing clients.

your key duties include

  • Be hands-on in leading the mechanical discipline and managing the Melbourne office.
  • Leading the delivery of projects and have the technical expertise to offer innovative HVAC design solutions with a good understanding of other disciplines (Electrical, Hydraulics, Fire Services and ESD)
  • Ensuring design standards are complaint, innovative, efficient and cost-effective
  • Liaising with other departments in Melbourne and interstate offices in project tenders, bids and submissions
  • Marketing, resource management and financials
  • Management of new and existing client relationships

your strengths, qualifications and skills

To succeed in this role, you will be an experienced leader in building services seeking to join a growing team and establish yourself as a leader in the industry. You will be well-networked in the Victorian market, having led projects and teams. On top of that, you will need to have:

  • A recognised mechanical engineering degree and an RBP
  • A strong portfolio in engineering consulting across various building sectors (commercial, aged care, educational, retail, hospitality, residential, public buildings and transport) ; ideally within an engineering consulting environment for over eight years.
  • Expertise in mechanical services and have a good understand of other core services
  • Strong business acumen
  • Team building skills, able to work with a tight-knit team and manage resources
  • Proven experience in marketing and managing revenue streams
